BBC Series 1 - 166 contains 15,722 noise and sound files from the BBC CD series no. 1 - 166, as well as the contents of the so-called BBC Historical Sound Archive. The BBC Series 1 - 166 Sound Archive is a comprehensive archive featuring standard sounds from every acoustic categories. The historical BBC archive contains special recordings (many of them unique) from the early days of sound recording. These include original Second World War recordings made during the Blitz in London.

BBC Historic contains a collection from real historic records and is collected now together with the BBC Standard Sound Library. The historical part of the BBC sound library contains original records from the old days - original audio material from the World War 2 or the orignal recording from the apollo space mission.

The BBC Nature Sound Effects Library offers the most diverse array of nature and animal sound effects in the world. This extensive collection of 13,695 royalty free sound effects has been recorded by BBC's top sound engineers from the late 1960s to the present day. Never before released, this library contains seventy categories of nature, ambience and animal sound effects that cross borders and span the globe. Sounds include apes from Borneo, ice cracking in Alaska, killer whale sound effects from Norway and Ethiopian baboons.
