Soundminer Server

Use your databases within your team and manage your comprehensive archive via a central server. Soundminer Server manages the databases you wish to share centrally with your team.

Create users, add them to group circles, and decide who gets which rights. Who has access to which databases and who is allowed to do what in which database.

Soundminer Server is the core hub in your company. Soundminer Server will keep your system organised, no matter how large your user group.

Soundminer Server - Centralised Data Management

Soundminer Server Permission Administration Window

Soundminer Server will manage your databases centrally via an audio server. All Soundminer users at local workstations will connect to the central Soundminer Server and access their sound files via the network.

This is a massive help in dealing with the everyday chaos in the studio. Kiss the workstation mess goodbye - Soundminer Server allows all users to access the central database.

When new sounds are loaded into the database, they are immediately visible to all clients. When metadata is changed, updated, or when new sounds are loaded or audio material is removed, all users will instantly see the latest developments.

Soundminer Server: Law and Order

What happens if you accidentally move a folder while you're combing through the audio folders? Soundminer Server protects your databases and sounds from such disasters: by creating user profiles and assigning rights, you can save yourself and your team from chaos and interruptions.

Soundminer Server makes sure that your audio server runs smoothly and your data structure stays secure. You can assign rights to your administrators so they can make changes to the databases and data files.

Create a sub-administrator for a specific group circle that then takes care of that data.

Controlling access to the archive with Soundminer Server

You decide who gets to see what. With Soundminer Server you can manage different databases for a number of user groups.

If different departments in your company use different applications (e.g. music and sound post-production), you can separate the user groups from each other.

If the departments want to share files, the user groups can be assigned to the specific databases and all the archives will become visible.

Information re: sounds

Please note that you will need a group user license for the use of sound archives.

This group license is independent of an administration system like Soundminer. Please refer to the licensing agreement for end users.

If you have any questions regarding group licenses, please get in touch. We are happy to help.

Soundminer Server - Centralised User Administration

To manage users, Soundminer Server uses a 'floating license' with a central hardware dongle. This means that you can install the Soundminer desktop programmes (e.g. Soundminer V6 PRO and Soundminer HD Plus) on as many workstations as you want.

The license manager on the server manages the number of licenses. If the license manager tells you upon opening Soundminer V6 PRO that all your licenses are used up, you'll need to complain to your colleagues or add more licenses.

Please contact us if you need more licenses.

Soundminer Server and Server Lite

Soundminer Server is available in different versions. The following is an overview of the different Server versions:

Soundminer Server Enterprise

Enterprise adds additional functionality to Soundminer Server, such as Active Directory. Active Directory is not currently available for Windows-based applications.

*Please note: the integration of Soundminer HD Plus into Soundminer Server is not yet completed.

Please contact us for a non-committal quote and/or for questions regarding Soundminer Server.

Soundminer Server - Technical Information

Soundminer Server requires a MySQL - Apache compatible system. Soundminer Server needs its own dedicated computer running on windows, Mac, or Linux, with a fixed IP address in your network, as well as direct access to your sound archive or bulk storage.

Hardware for Soundminer Server

A MacMini with i5 processor and 8GB RAM is sufficient to run a large network with up to 50 clients.

Networks

A fast network is required to smoothly stream sounds via ReWire to Soundminer clients.

Please note that transferring multi-channel files in high resolution puts considerable stress on your network.

Please contact us for more information. We are happy to assist you with any questions regarding the hard- and software requirements for Soundminer Server.

Soundminer Server and Virtual Machines

Soundminer Server can be used in virtual machines. Please note, however, that the hardware dongle (required to manage the Soundminer floating licenses) needs a USB port.
